We do not supply any type of solar lighting. We offer dusk to dawn sensors on exterior lighting, smart lighting controls that can illuminate your fixtures at night, and other hard-wired options. We believe hard-wired fixtures are the most dependable and efficient option when it comes to exterior lighting solutions.
NOTE: If you have tall ceilings, additional chain and or down rods can typically be ordered to allow your fixture to hang at the appropriate height.
Hanging fixtures such as chandeliers, ceiling fans, or semi-flush fixtures should hang a minimum of 7’ from the floor to the bottom of the fixture. This allows for taller guests and most standard doors to clear the bottom of the fixture.
The diameter of the fixture should be the length + width of the room in feet converted to inches.
For example: If your room is 10'x15' then the diameter of the fixture should be approximately 25". If your room is 12'x14' then the diameter of the fixture should be approximately 26".
When selecting pendants or a singular fixture for over a kitchen island, it is recommended to leave approximately 30-36" between the bottom of the fixture and the surface top.
If using multiple pendants, it is recommended to space the fixtures around 30" apart.
Fixtures placed by an exterior door should be approximately ¼ the height of the door when using two fixtures and approximately ⅓ the height of the door when using one fixture.
All exterior wall mounted fixtures should be installed with approximately 66" between the center of the fixture to the threshold of the door.
It is important to consider the blade rotation of your ceiling fan. Most ceiling fans can be utilized in winter and summer months.
In order to ensure your ceiling fan can distribute proper air flow, it is important to ensure you have the right size down rod.
9' ceilings: 12" or smaller
10' ceilings: 12-18" downrod
11' ceilings: 18-24" downrod
12' ceilings: 24-36" downrod
13' ceilings: 36-48" downrod
14' ceilings: 48-60" downrod
15' ceilings: 72" downrod
NOTE: If you are still unsure of the appropriate downrod length for your room, consult one of our on-staff lighting consultants.
All ceiling fans should have a minimum of 7' clearance from the floor to the fan blades.
